Jiajie Zheng (Rye)
Currently based in London
Jiajie Zheng is an artist whose practice spans photography, language, and poetic spatial construction. His practice focuses on the complex relationship between contemporary landscape and the mechanisms of perception. He is particularly interested in how temporal rhythm and repetition influence visual experience, and explores how perception emerges through the subconscious, everyday acts of seeing, and overlooked perceptual structures.
He conceives of the contemporary landscape as both a cognitive and poetic space — a visual field composed by imagery, memory, and the subconscious. His work emphasises moments of perceptual failure, suspension, and absence, rejecting narrative coherence in favour of the inherent fragmentation found within everyday visual experience.
